Professor faces up to emerging businessThe Canberra Times Wednesday, 7 May 2008 Professor David Matsumoto, a San Francisco State University psychology professor, is an expert on reading facial expressions. Professor Matsumoto launched Canberra-based firm New Intelligence's Emotional Skills training program, with a workshop on reading facial expressions yesterday. New Intelligence managing director Steve Longford said the program would provide training to the consulting, recruiting, general management and public service industries. "Human capital is as important as cash capital, and I think businesses are increasingly becoming more aware of the importance of the human capital and this is one way they can address that need," Professor Matsumoto said. "... Emotions are a major part of everyone's life, whether they think so or not, even people who think they have no emotions show their emotions quite well if you can learn how to read micro expressions and other non-verbal signals." |
