Steve Longford and the Australian Science Festival
New Intelligence Managing Director Steve Longford will take part in the Australian Science Festival later this month. New Intelligence is a training and consulting company in Canberra which teaches people to read people. The techniques he teaches have received wide media coverage since appearing in the American drama, Lie To Me, which is about a body and facial language expert who uses his skills to solve crimes. The TV show, like Longford’s work, is based on the research of psychologist Paul Ekman.
Steve will be involved in two forensic science events at the Australian Science Festival this month that will examine the science behind TV shows such as Lie To Me, Bones and CSI. The CSI Fact or Fiction event will study how accurately the shows portray the work of a forensic scientist.
In CSIpod Nano Steve, a former criminal profiler, will put the audience in a criminal profiler’s shoes. He will take them through a potential crime and together they will try to solve it using techniques such as nanotechnology, environmental forensics and disaster victim identification.
