New Intelligence was asked to provide the Micro-expressions workshop at AIPIO as a way of introducing delegates to an intelligence tool that is used globally due to the universality of the 7 basic emotions. New Intelligence is the exclusive Australian provider of the Micro-Expressions Training Tool (METT) and Subtle-Expressions Training Tool (SETT) developed by the US based Paul Ekman Group. All trainers were accredited in the newly updated training package earier this year by Professor David Matsumoto, Professor of Psychology, San Francisco State University and Executive Vice President of the Paul Ekman Group. At the conference Anthony highlighted "Some people may have seen the old METT, but the new and improved METT has 84 different facial images, and now has many more ethnic groups represented as well a great gender balance upon which to learn and practice". To get an idea of the technology and science used in the training, below is an excerpt from a US television program with Dr. David Matsumoto and Dr. Paul Ekman discussing their emotion research including Micro-Expressions.
